Firmware Engineer Education Paths

Question

Does anyone have a good education path a person should take to become a Firmware Engineer using a trade school? If not, maybe some self taught paths? I would like it to be two years at the most, if possible. Thanks!

I’m graduating High School mid to end of this year and have learned some level of Web Develoupment (HTML, CSS, JS and React) for about 1 1/2 years (not consistant enough though and don’t feel very comfortable with a lot.) I love programming and electronics, so i find this career to be the best fit for me.

Righting firmware requires deep understanding of how the hardware functions and the target OS (kernel). What kind of background do you have?
