MetaData is simple data about data. Let us consider a simple example- Suppose you have 'Pirates of the carribian 4' in your computer. What else information does this movie contains? 1. The movie (data) 2. Size of movie (Metadata) 3. Format of movie (Metadata) 4. Author of movie (MetaData) 5. Audio format it is using like AAC (MetaData) 6. Date of copying it to present folder (MetaData) and more. All such informations are of what use, if we only want to watch movie? This all informations are needed when we search our data in our computer. Searching is only possible with the help of metadata. Similarly, metadata helps search engine to locate the data present in our site. All metadata tags like <meta> , <script>, <style>, <title>, <base>, <noscript> etc. have their own uses. You can read them in app course or from W3schools.com
