Question

I would like to get some opinions from you guys about the pros and cons of having an Official Chat Feature built into Sololearn.

I'm going to consolidate all of your opinions into a Poll at the end. So to make it easier for me please use the example below as a reference. Thank You!

😁You could try use this for chat! You can even PM in it you just type /PRIVMSG "persons nick" and it opens a private tab. But it doesn't work like e-mail only realtime chat/PMs!

😊You just gotta find a way to ask them to join you. (You could try posting on one of their codes, just try to respect their code/post by deleting what you posted to them to join you see below)

-fragmentation of info
-degrading of answers due to repetition
-social entertainment over self improvement
-more spam
-less resources for development

comment: Although the Q&A section has its problems, well posed question get answered and the info remains available to everybody always.
A chat would replace the Q&A: colloquial short posts are difficoult to follow if you need info.
More difficoult if in a language other than english(from a community perspective).
Considering the average audience (based on what can be seen now in the Q&A, the amount of spam would be intollerable and trying to filter it would hog the devs with a useless titanic job, taking time that could be used for platform development.
It would be a disaster for SL.

Comment: If SoloLearn hires some security guys and report team, why not? So it would be safer.

I wouldn't mind a group feature where someone has an idea, and starts a group, and invites others publicly or privately to collaborate on small projects.

But I agree that the fragmentation of knowledge, and solutions to common problems through private chats would diminish the usability of the app to beginners.

We are all here to better ourselves and should not need to separate from the crowd but ebrace community learning.
