Getting into the Biz
I've always been interested in computers and took Java, VB, and C in high school and college. I didn't peruse a degree in Comp Sci because I couldn't do the prerequisite math classes for the degree. I'm 30 now, a single parent and I hate the Job I have (I'm a supervisor for an auto shop, I'm very good at it but it's ok pay and horrible hours). I recently rediscovered my love of computers and of coding after helping my daughter build a computer (simple Raspberry Pi computer) and started to teach her coding (via scratch). My question is, how can I get into this business? I know I'm very good at learning new skills, I'm a hard worker, I take pride in my work, and I have good leadership skills (including being a good follower) but how do I show an potential employer I'm worth hiring, especially since I wont have a degree? Going back to school full time isn't in the card, its too expensive and I really don't have the time. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
