I am completely new to programming. Should I focus on Python first?
I will have to eventually learn C++ and Java for College. but wanted to take " baby steps" and learn as much as possible.

Yes, best efficient way to learn programming is to focus on one language at once, and only later go to another if you want to not be confused by differences and similarities ( the second one will help you in learning others languages later ;) ) and good acquire the targeted knowlendge...
And anyway, I think also that << Python is an excellent choice for a first programming language >> as @Claudio Vidal wrote, even if the best choice remaind the language each one feel more affinities/needs :P ( web technologies -- html/css/js -- are very cool too for beginning, but you need to learn more or less three different syntaxic rules ^^ in the other hand, you directly go to graphic user interfaces -- GUI -- instead of text one -- CLI, command line interface -- for starting with other languages )

Python is an excellent choice for a first programming language. Is well structured, sharp and clean. Go for It!

start off with any one of the available language. Python is easy to learn, so are the others. no matter what language you chose, learn it well.
