Chasing XPs vs Learning

What's your take?! I CHOOSE TO LEARN. I have noticed with concern that some members have decided to just chase XPs rather than learn. It is funny to see some members having more than 5000 XPs from less than 3 languages yet they are non-contributors and have not written any code whatsoever. Their strategy being learning HTML & PHP and then concentrating on Challenges till they achieve their desired XPs. HAVE YOUR SAY!

I feel the same way and maybe we saw the same member, i don't care if users want to follow XP's, life is their... not my. Thank you for this thread, i always thought the same but for "avoid useless discussions" i never wrote anything about these kind of users. :) Likestorm and Fake account are two tricks for get faster badges, but the first is useful for all, the second just for a single user, anyway... are the same thing. People are free to do whetever they want, but in this way they will lose the true meaning of SoloLearn... i mean, SOLO - LEARN! I want to precise, that often i choose random users for upvote their threads, it's fun... but with moderation! I don't forget the meaning of SoloLearn. I repeat: People are free to do whetever they want, honestly my life doesn't change in no way, this is only my opinion. ^_^

@Tusiime: I find your statement regarding the Q&A Discussions to be highly agreeable. Only last night I had a major misconception corrected by engaging with a question posted by another user. If I had not taken part I still would be under this false belief. My motivation for being here has always been to learn. XP while nice is not high on my list of priorities. That said. I am not everyone else and I also agree with Maz that people are free to do as they wish. We all have different ways of learning. Mine just happens to be inline with yours in the respect of Q&A Discussion participation.

Chasing xp when I'm exhausted just cost me 10 defeats in php ;) No pain - no gain, I guess. I don't plan to learn it and for most of the time the losses were symbolic, one time I even gained xp on a loss (!), but it was definitely not worth the fuss.

@Moksh Makhja, I understand your opinion to this, but it would be good if people contributed to the Community discussions because that's the major way we learn from each other. I learn nothing from failing a challenge I haven't understood at all. It would be good if the challenger assisted me in understanding where I went wrong or how they got the answer right. Sometimes we write codes that could be modified to perform better but unfortunately the only people who would help us achieve that are those concentrating on only challenges for XPs. I find that selfish.
