If you want to learn Java, then you should start by checking the syntaxis (if you already know other programming language it'll be easier), and once you've learned that you can start learning classes and objects, and how does Java work.

Well, it depends on prior knowledge.
If you already know OOP from other programming languages and things related with Java, it may take only a few days to perhaps a week.
However, if you have no prior knowledge, it may take months.
Just remember it doesn't matter how long it takes, just remember to not give up and keep trying. Good luck!
