Hmm... U can for example look for some packages at GitHub, read documentation and try to do apps for your beloved programs. E.g. Bots for TeamSpeak, Image scanners(face detection), Chat bots, Text editor, Simple games in PyGame, App which plots functions, text RPGs, Simple text encoder and so on. It is nice to be able to quickly understand documentations. Employers appretiate it!
