How to print the selected value of a drop down field?

Question

I am new to python. My issue is..i have a drop down field which contains around 6 values. I need to print the user selected drop down value. I have created a script to select a value from the drop down. after that in the next step I need to print the selected value. but I am not able to do. can anybody help me.by posting a sample script..plz help
