Is this a good langauge to start with?

No language is better than another to get started with, it all depends on what you want to get in to (as long as the language isn't obsolete).

C++ is a powerful language, and widely used in general programming for applications and games. If programming is what you want to get in to, it definitely wouldn't hurt to learn C++. Additionally, as C++ is an object oriented language, you should be able to understand concepts from another object oriented language a lot easier, such as Java.

Many other languages(such as swift,java etc) have writtin based on objective c or c++ so many of java c# and c scopes and commands are very similar to c++ and its good to start with c++
