Both the Languages are good in there own unique ways....
But i would say you can go with Java.
As many programming languages which are available on Market.
Java also has there own set of different technologies which is Servlet, JSP, JDBC, Hibernate, Spring an many mores...
For an Efficient, Rubust, stability & better performance with an easy maintaince, you can use those set of technologies which is incorporated by Java for the Development of an web app.
Also no need to worry in choosing Java because, atleast for next 10-15 years Java is not gone die.Only some new features will get added as the coming of new updates on it.
But the core is still remain the same for all versions.
If you are going for Java then,
Then you can also learn Kotlin as it is more cutting edge language for this, where you can run Kotlin code on Java or Java code on Kotlin vise-versa....
