a[1][0] = 6; a[1][1]; a[1][2];
a[2][0] = 7; a[2][1] = 3; a[2][2] = 8;

for (int i = 0; i < 4; i ++){
for (int j = 0; j < 4;j++){
if (i == 1){
sum = sum + a[i][j];
}
}

This is an example to calculate the sum of the second column.
