I wouldn't say so. Don't be fooled by your own scope - you are most likely naturally looking for or noticing people who are interested in programming. Perhaps there might be more than a year ago and a year before that... but it definitely is NOT a common knowledge. Algorithmic thinking, in general, is too powerful of a concept for most people I know. And I know a few... :)

yes.....i fully agree...... many people are interested in programming nowadays ...... but intelligent and real programmers are found less

Nothing is closer to truth. Thinking that "everybody" code these days can be very demotivating if you are beginner and also older one...
