I liked learning with JavaScript. You can combine it with some HTML to easily create web-based apps.

But HTML is not a great programming language. It's almost just typing data. So If you want to learn web-programming you can begin with html + css + javascript. Later start learning php.

Yes, learn HTML. It is very easy and you'll need it at some stage.
