Is it possible to learn sql in a week?

id like to be able to read and amend code

It depends on how much of experience you have with databases. Simple queries are easy to learn and SQL syntax is very intuitive, shouldn't be a problem. What I meant earlier was you have to know the db structure well, all its dependencies and interactions with other databases, to be able to make advanced data processing. Honestly saying, noone should expect a new employee to handle this in a week without a proper training :)

Passive knowledge and code understanding? Definitely yes. Proper creation of SQL queries? Yes. Working on a real SQL database and successfully pulling stuff from and to it? Rather not :)

It is *pretty* easy. You CAN master the basics in even 1 day.

thats a start thank you very much for the answer. i recently landed a job as a application support analyst i never in a million years would have thought id land it especially with a bank as big as this so im just worried and i dont think ill be up to their standards :(

i worked in access management before this so basically maintaining user accounts and updating permissions etc which was great fun but i wanted a bit of a challenge something that has a different challenge all together. they did say training will be given but im not sure to what extent i have a week till i start with my new employers and i thought why not brush up on sql, ive not used it in ages. the job is more on software testing (UAT)
