Is it save to install modules with PIP?

I just read, that you can install malware, if you use pip. The setup.py could contain malicous software. What is your opinion?

Yes, you should be careful about which package you are downloading and installing on your PC as the files uploaded to PyPI are not checked unless explicitly stated otherwise.
