Why people follow others in SoloLearn?

I've just started playing SoloLearn less than a month ago. There's many things on my screen I can't understand. For example, why would people follow others in SoloLearn? Does it increase anything? Influencer %? But by just looking at the word "influencer", it seems like you need to get other plays followed you? How they rank players? Just by XP?

If you follow others, their activities are shown in the feed. So basically you can follow people to read their posts, see when they publish a code, start or finish a course and so on. You can choose which activities you want in the feed in the settings.

@ visph: I understand what you mean and I like your answer as it's what I want know. But it's because of the gamification they designed, I got more hooked in it. But I'm not just doing everything to get a higher XP. Now I'm slowing down to reread the lesson notes before I complete the course final quiz. And I also look back at my wrong answers.

People here tend to follow others mostly to be followed and upvoted by return, as most of them is only here to get XPs and ranking rather than to learn code... Unfortunaly: that's not only by their own fault, but from sololearn politic also, which tend to keep their members active by focusing them on chalenges and run towards XP, so this app' tend to more becomes a game than a learning code app, even if some are really here to learn code and/or improve/share their skills ^^

I just describe a general case, not yours specifically ;) (Also, I think most of people here are convinced that they are not concerned, but only others, as in real life ^^)

I follow others to learn more. When I see good answers or great codes I check them out.
