Programming taught me about grasping and identifying the generic equation of problems. Once you have the equation, all you need to do is to fill in the variables and obtain a desired output which represents the solution to your problem. Equations of the same kind can then be grouped together for future reference, such that problems which seem to have no relation to one another may actually be solvable by applying the same algorithm.

Programming teaches a person to use proper algorithms in any case. Therefore it affects our thinking and solution-generating process, which we use regularly in our daily lives as well. For example, programming taught us to divide a big problem into smaller parts, and reach the solution by collecting and summing up all the small answers. Knowing how to divide a problem into parts properly may highly increase our productivity.

I create programs that solve problems in math for me. I know what to do, and how to solve the problem, but it is reoccurring, so I pity the problem in a function with parameters. This saves me time. I made one for calculating tax, etc.
