Well, it took me 2-3 posts to realize you're talking about the course and then I had to find the questions. They work for me so if this isn't a hardware problem (like a stuck Ctrl key) it may be an app bug on your device - probably write the developer.

That's strange. You didn't ask for this help so only if it's useful:

If Android, Hackers Keyboard (well-written + open source) is a full keyboard that works around some bugs.

Maybe even clear the cache for your current method, in case it's sending non-standard key codes. Good luck.
