Please house...How much Java do I need to programme in Android? and pls recommend apps i can design as a beginner in android

av been a bit confused consigning java and android... do I need to be a pro in the language before developing in android or just an intermediate?
Secondly as the saying practice makes perfect... please I want to start with android programming but just want to start with simpler apps ....recommend any for me Plsss

I recommend learning the basics then advancing your knowledge. It's better having more knowledge then less knowledge so learn as much as you can but don't forget your basics.
