What online Certificate is actually useful?

We all know that SL's certificates just serves as a prove of basic knowledge. So I was wondering, is there any online certificate that proves you as an advanced programmer that is validated by companies? Is there anyone free, or low cost?

Official cert? free? lololol. :) Depends what you consider low cost. Paying $500 for a $1000 cert is 50% off, so that's a good deal, but $500 is still a lot of money (to me).

By the way, I don't have official certs, but the way that I prove to them what I know is by showing them what I know. I know plenty of people with certs, that when first started out in a position, have no idea what they're doing. So a cert doesn't prove anything about you, other than that you took a test and managed to pass it. I have a portfolio of various things that I use to show what I know to potential employers. It covers many different types of things from authentication/security stuff to things that involve heavy networking code. If you're able to show what you can do, and then explain it when being questioned, you'll be alright and a cert won't much matter. However, I'm not against certs or people getting them either, if that's what you want to do. Do whatever works best for you and whatever you believe will ensure your own success. Best of luck to ya!
