I just returned from the future. Trust me, you don't want to focus on programming. Focus on your carpentry, agricultural and hunting skills instead.

Honestly Java is usually the first, most basic and universal language people learn. Most people say that's it's outdated or close to it. Yet despite, this Java has stayed quite strong and prominent. My suggestion is to learn it and any other language well in the chance that it will continue to stay relevant, but remember to always research and stay updated on any other possible competitor may appear (as this is the case with most technologies).
