Sololearn bug - how to avoid the letter 'i'

I have an annoying bug: When doing challenges or courses and i have to type answers into an input, SOMETIMES special characters (e.g. {}<>$[]'&%) transform into the character 'i' when written. Is it a known error and is there a workaround? I am using the app on Android 5.1.1 Thank you :-)

I never had that problem even when I was using Android 5.1 🤔

Is it not something your keyboard does? On my phone I use an English keyboard. When I type text it changes text constantly. And try to type English with a Dutch keyboard, it tries to change it to Dutch.. But that is both text and no special characters. Changed text is always underlined.

I saw this and admittedly just moved on as 'is this for real' (+ better results @ Feedback bugs / StackExchange) but I'm back because of other comments. This isn't a programming-related response (well, Developer Mode is), so I'm calling it community support for targeted troubleshooting off-app. Possibilities: * Autocorrect. Clear custom dictionary and/or disable predictive text. * Software keyboard. Clear its cache if possible (Settings | Apps | possibly System apps), switch to another (I use Hacker's Keyboard) and back. * Digitizer problems. Turn on Android Developer mode (permanent change but harmless -- just a new menu) then Debug Pointer Location (and related). * Malware - If it's this, installing protection software after-the-fact is dubious, but you could try (e.g., Lookout). * In order of least -> most disruption: SoloLearn cache, recovery: clear system cache, rebuild Dalvik cache, factory reset phone. My phone does weird taps/launches because the screen's broken, headphone voltage transients and hey, maybe a hacker I can troll, but super-sensitive capacitive screens can rapid-tap "shift/mark and a letter" and look otherwise perfect; I've had my screens 'tap' when I'm just hovering. Developer Mode may be the informative way to go.
