It can analyse information and create AI. Those are what I believe to be the two main reasons, also it's object oriented, us simple and easy to understand, and includes many references to Monty Python!

If I am not mistaken youtube backend is done in Python. And it works on different platforms. So I believe you can do pretty much everything with it.
