by using transition on any attributes like opacity, width, height, transform etc on IMG
or by using keyframe animations on IMG
before loading next image

so you r looking for js implementation?
then create an string array of image links ,
then loop over those links front or back depending on the next or prev button,
btw I also need to make one , in one of my code
