Hi Janie... First, let me wish you luck and congratulate you on starting your career.
As someone who has interviewed many, many, many developers over the past 2 decades, I look for the following in junior developers:
- Genuine passion and demonstrated aptitude for learning.
- Strong self awareness and confidence in what you know, as well as, what you don't know. Don't be awkwardly defensive about not knowing something. No one expects you to have much experience yet when it's your first job you're interviewing for.
- Charisma and chemistry that fits the team dynamics.
- Clear and concise communication. Don't allow yourself to nervously ramble on.
Also, when presented with a challenging scenario type question, don't worry so much about getting the incorrect answer. Rather, the question is meant to see how you react. Will you start to get nervous, uncomfortable, frustrated, etc? Or, will you be intrigued, ask more questions to better understand, and engage in dialog?
Most of all, be relaxed, be yourself, and have fun. The interviewer will be assessing if you are someone who can learn and grow from the guidance of the team, your work ethic and drive, and if you are someone they will enjoy working with.
I hope this all makes sense. I'm writing this pretty late and while tired. zzz... zzz... zzz. 😉

Hello Janie, I believe you can find better advice on web but here's my 2¢:-
Be yourself and learn with open heart.
Personally I value attitude over intellect as one cannot go wrong as it's the willingness that lead you further. All the best to you for your baby step in programming world!

Hi Janie, In addition to the great advise given above, try to research about your employer and your prospective job description. This would make you better informed and enable you to ask questions about things you are unclear about. Wishing you the very best in your interview!

@Janie... Something I forgot to mention before was not everyone interviews the same way. In fact, many interviews can go badly because the person asking the questions isn't qualified for that type of selection process.
Would you mind sharing feedback on which, if any, tips provided here helped in your case? Also, do you have your own recommendations now that you've gone through the process?

Good luck Janie Lee, I m looking for that too, but I think my interviews get messed up, I m beginning to realise few do's and don'ts.
i guess interviewers don't prefer pumped up candidates 😅, I m focussing on my technical skills right now.
