In my opinion, you should first know what area or field you're interested in. Once you're clear about what you want, then you pursue a certification related to that field.

However, here is a list of few from different areas:

A+ (IT)
PMP (Project Management Professional).
C Language Certified Associate (Programming).
MCSD (Microsoft).
