How can I make people know about my application without spending money?

I am working on a kind of social media and as I was writing the code when this idea crossed my mind: I can not spend money right now, so how can I host my app and still make it be seen?
Is there any kind of website where I could host it for free without getting that strange subdomain names?
Maybe some funding, but where could I share my idea to see if anyone would support me?
Would you suggest taking part on app contests to get that funding?
