Python Functions and OOP

Hello, everyone So,I am in need of a idiot-proof explanation about Function. I mean,i get the core idea, functions are basically a mean to give functionality to an expression using blocks of code which can be reused for better writing, analysis, debugging and overall efficiency. but I don't get the 'reverse value',being called' definitions. Dunno if it's because I'm not fluent in English, but theses therms are rather vague for me. If someone can explain to me ( I really appreciate examples ),I would be really grateful Good d/a/n
