The reason behind the image alt tag... This is not a question

I was doing a challenge with a fellow sololearner and came across a question that ask for the reason behind "alt" attribute of a image. I got it wrong and so I decided to search it and quite amazed by the result that I found. Here is the link for the full article

1. Help visually impaired people to understand webpages in better manner.
2. Help the web crawlers to understand graphical content along with textual content.
3. Help the normal people to better understand the content if in any case image do not load.

Simple, if the picture do not show , ‘alt’ is used to show the text to visualise viewer what the picture is.
