Newbie trying to learn about performance

Question

I am learning HTML and JavaScript. Inspired by a video on the double pendulum from @theCodingTrain I wondered if I could derive on my own a formula for n pendulums and, most importantly, code the physics and the rendering using HTML and JS. It is not finished or polished, I'll be adding UI and other things the next few weeks but my question here centers on learning about performance within JS, what could I do in a better way?
