How do learn more in depth coding skills necessary for game design?

I am currently going to school for game design, but there is only one programming class in my curriculum. I have learned that even though game designers don't do the extent of progamming that game developers do, a basic working knowledge of JavaScript, C#, and C++ is crucial. A designer has to be able to take an idea, and provide the developers with a basic framework to build on. What other resources can I use to learn and practice because SoloLearn leaves alot of the finer details unexplained

Bookboon provide some nice tutorials in game design and programming. In fact they are mainly written for students by teachers or fellow students and are relatively easy to understand.

If you're looking for pre-built engines, I recommend Unity or the Unreal engine. But there are a lot more...

awesome, thank you. i have been searching and only found a few useful sites. www.codingame.com is pretty cool because it makes you take preexisting code and alter or add to it to create a specific outcomes in various game prototypes.
