What is the difference between width, inner width and outer width?..And expecting same explanation for height too?

currently I have been learning jQuery in SoloLearn. they were explained concept called "dimensions". There explained about width, height, inner width, inner height, outer height, outer width...but I am deeply understand these concepts?..what. is the need of these properties?
