Hello, where does XML fit in with these courses? Is it needed?

My very first question here btw, apologies if it's a noob one. I've started to learn programming and I've already completed the HTML, SQL and Python on Solo-learn. I'm half way through CSS at the moment but where does XML fit into these languages? I'm forever seeing code with references to it when I look at internet page source files. I thought it may have been part of CSS but I've not come across it in the tutorial yet. Could anyone advise whether I'll need to learn that too?

XML is a different thing it is a standard markup language to define data. XML has no connection with css the reason you might have heard that is becuase in android and other language it uses XML for layout as we use css or html css. XML can be used anywhere for example in a simple message viewer where you can see and send messages. you can make own app that reads from the XML by breaking it also there are various libraries for reading it or make your program understand position of elements.
