How to get into game development?

I would like to get into game development but I don't know where to start... I've downloaded Unity but I really don't know what to do...

I think that C# is used in Unity, sooo, if you are interested start a course of C# programming here on SoloLearn. You kinda need to know it to start developing in Unity :)

I'd say that you learn JavaScript, since it's a little more "modern" than C#. Though, C# has it's perks as well. You could also check out GameMaker to get into 2D game development.

Are you sure you want to be a programmer though? Theres plenty of positions avaliable to choose from. Try GameMaker if you prefer to think WHAT to do rather than HOW

Maciek, what do you mean with "plenty of positions to choose from"?

@Sam Level design, game design, plenty of art related positions, writing, it's even more as you go more into detail. Times when only programmers made games because they knew how to code are long gone.
