How to learn PHP

What is the best way to learn PHP and SQL?

By writing it. The more applications you try to build the more you will learn. I thought I had cracked PHP a couple of years ago, then I was given a new project to write and I thought about how it was going to work, the future amends that may be made to the code, how the users would use it so on so on. This led me to write php in a whole new way that I was use to. Now I write most appliactions like that and I only learnt other methods due to different projects.

Start with a blog, then a user system, then asset libraries including a user system, then things like inventory managers and whole cms systems.

If you are strong with the basics then you can go for referring this book - Learning PHP 5 by David Sklar.. hope this will help you.
