I would recommend Java, C++, C#, or Python if you want to make applications for computers.
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery are for web development.
Java and Swift are for Android and iOS, respectively.
Try whichever one most interests you, and don't worry which are most popular. You can always try something else, they all have their uses!

What do you mean by most widely used language? Do you mean here on this app or generally?
