Can I get employed as a programmer in Nigeria without a computer science degree?

I've noticed that most programming jobs in Nigeria demand a degree in computer science. are there any companies that higher based on skill alone in Nigeria?

I don't think anyone can answer you with confidence, although if most of the jobs you see require it, it is likely that the culture there is not so open at that point. In my country something similar happens, even if you have good skills, most companies ask for a certain level of education and a university degree. In any case, Xan's advice may be of use to you. Sometimes you have to take the initiative.

1) Create a website to prove your skills 2) Great looking website 3) Put some of your excellent programs on there 4) Put your CV on there 5) Put a professional video on there Write a letter to companies (they get too many emails), telling them about yourself. Include a print out of your code, and a CV that references your website. Add "For Hire" page on website. Or start your own business!

Computer programmer positions are wide open even for those without a degree however you must work hard, be determined and go above and beyond to prove your skills.
