what is the difference between supscripted and superscripted

There is a difference is just hard to see as there is no 'normal' text on the same line. Add some text before each like below and you'll see. 'sub' is below like a submarine, 'sup' is above like Superman flying :) <p>Hi<sub> subscripted text </sub></p> <p>Hi<sup> superscripted text </sup></p>

2^3 = 8 superscript to do achieve the exponent.. The other one just like Zeke Williams H2O

Subscripted is like the 2 in H2O, the chemical formula for water. Superscripted is for exponents like 7 squared.
