What is @ in css

Question

I have been looking at a couple of html codes and notice a @ in the css code so i was wondering what is was. If anybody knows what it is and explain it to me, it would be a great help ,thank you.

It is used when you want to define some rules as a part of its keyword. For example:

@font-face - to define fonts
@media - to define rules for specified media only
