PHP or python for server side programming?

some say that PHP is easier and some say that I should start python because it is the most in demand and popular as of today.

They are both good options. I sometimes find PHP to be more limited for very specific tasks, but Python runs slower. It often depends on the project. I think knowing both is very useful and then you can choose whichever you feel will be better for the project (often dependent on the functionality you need)
