You may want to know history but not too much into deep then
Go with Basics....Syntax,Looping etc
Theory + Practical

Go with Advanced...Classes,String etc
Theory + Practical + Mini Project

Go with Expert...Generics ,Exception Handling etc
Theory + Practical + Big Project + Deployment into Market

Then you're the owner of your choice
There is no single way of learn find your suitable workspace and start doing it.
Don't ask where when It's says CHAPTER 1 that's your clue to begin with it your mind eventually start grabbing it. All the best
