I think the question here is what do you want to do with Javascript? I mean, I use JS mainly to manipulate the DOM and build interfaces with some frameworks and very rarely have I done a complex calculation. People who work with Canvas do other calculations a little more advanced, but in general, if you study a little, I'm sure you can master them.
