What are the uses of python?

Question

I have heard that python can be used for almost everything, from basic scripting to machine learning.

But I want to dive into some bigger projects. Like over 200 lines of code. I want to code some "respectable" progam, not small scripts. I am not expert, but I certainly know the basics.

Some projects I was considering:
1. Chat program- I dont know how
to get started with sockets in python.

2. Something with AI- I know nothing of AI, would like suggestions about projects and resources to learn.

CONTINUTION OF QUESTION:

Basically, what I am asking for is inspiration for some cool apps that I can make. I currently feel like small-scripting is all python can do. I want to prove myself wrong.
Also, where to progress from here? I do not want to learn new language, but I want to get better at programming itself, with python.
