Can I do this? Am I wasting my time, pouring over JS lessons?
I only recently subscribed to this site. I really want to learn JS, and then go further- I need a marketable skill, and I want it to be programming. I easily blew through HTML/HTML5 course, yay. but I grew up writing html. I'm finishing JS course, on last section about DOM. i logically understand whats been taught, but am embarrassing myself in challenges, also really haven't wrote or utilized JS script before.. Will I come around after I use it some,or move on to other lessons? anyone, know what I mean?

Hi William
the JS course here is very basic, you need a guide to code not just syntax. Suggest you work through this free book, many good exercises to get you into the mode of coding

Practice a lot and you will improve over time

Like I said the key is practice without it you wonât go far itâs the same with any sport or hobby, you can learn all the theory behind lets say music but if you donât play any instruments or practice itâs useless. Good luck :)

I think my issue is, Im having a hard time with using objects for the first time. When I see multiple functions within functions, where the functions are objects and utilizing Elements throughout the script. The properties, methods, & attributes- AND then editing the elements is so new,to me,and I wanna, figure out how to solve this problem. I have revisited all previous JS lessoms multiple times but still not completely getting it.

Mike Choy, THANK YOU! I didnt know how to explain what was really trippin me up. But I think it is exactly that I'm getting all the syntax (which I'm absorbing just fine), but not getting much actual practice. I'm totally a kinesthetic learner, so I wont get this until I have actually been shown how to do it and then done it myself. SoloLearn is awesome but I fear I will struggle with each of the languages because although there is SOME good examples and the ability to "try out" what you have learned, there isn't extensive real world application work- which I think I need.
HTML was a breeze for me, but back in the 90's, I started making multiple websites. That was back before you had hosts (like Wix, etc.), that all provide built in, interactive, webpage design and allowing almost anyone to make a site these days.
I know this is off topic, but I just thought about it talking about html... but back in 90's, and I was around 13, I would build so many websites, all totally written in html in a notepad document, then I would publish them all on angelfire..lol I made multiple Dragon Ball Z RPG webpages, then run all simultaneously. Can any one either remember those good ole' days or did anyone get on that Dragon Ball Z rpg train, lol?
