[CLOSED] Managing duplicate posts

Question

Recently the mod team receives a lot of help from the community by giving us hints on duplicate posts.

We really appreciate every help we can get!
We will try to take care of one topic after another, this means continous progress.

So, this is a place to tell the mods that you have found a question that has been asked many times before and the best answer to it ever has already been posted.

Please share both the duplicates and most valuable threads about it, thanks a lot!

i think there is an issue with the copy-paste when making a new post and then editing it.

May I propose introducing an ‘auto suggest’ feature when submitting a new Q&A post similar to Quora? It works like auto complete and as the person is typing a question, similar questions are shown below to see if the question has been asked already. That discourages submitting duplicates although it doesn’t prevent them completely.

The very first thing that everybody can do to help us is to take a look at your own questions and remove duplicates. But please keep all the good and popular threads. It is okay to have more than one thread of a topic, if more than one is valuable :)

i think the fact that sololearns text input doesnt allow copy and paste once a post has been made,is making this more difficult.
I dont know how to pile all results in a single post if the input wont allow copy and paste

Soo illd start from the most abominably common (prefix/postfix threads).

Kept some for future reference, but most of the mentioned threads are removed. Many thanks Brains.

Burey - In that case, that's a really old bug. Once you try to edit an already published answer, you'd have to save each and every minute edit before changing windows.
Even scrolling up the post answers removes the changes you were making while in edit mode.
