You should understand basic concepts of maths, because there's a lot in programming that is based on maths

I think it depends on what type of programming you want to do. If you want to be programmer in business world only basics of mathematics is enough. But, If you want to become programming at research world and some low level programming for example NLP, 3D graphics, Game Engine etc. advanced mathematics is necessary.

I had this same question in my mind when I first started my career in web development. But along with the time I got my answers so here is your answer it depends, suppose you are going out to buy some fruits you need simple math to calculate the price of fruits rights. well it's same here there are operator in every programming language to help you out you don't need to be a ninja in math to be a good programmer. Have you watched the "The Social Network" movie when mark ask his frnd I need algorithm well his frnd know the math but who is mark he is CEO of Facebook 😁
