[node.js] vs [php]

Which one is better ? + why

I think Node.JS has a gun and PHP only has a knife, so unless PHP is really quiet, NodeJS will probably win between the two.

PHP is widely used on many sites today, but the language itself has been on the decline for awhile now. NodeJS is a great languages, is based off Javascript so it's easy learning curve, performs better than PHP and is much more scalable than PHP will ever be. With all of that taken into consideration, I'd say go with NodeJS if you can only pick one, otherwise it wouldn't hurt you as a developer to learn both of them so that you're more well rounded for the various work/projects you'll find yourself in.

Node.js has become wildly popular. It is in high demand relative to PHP, which has been in decline now for quite a while in terms of market trends. Node.js is great -- you can use it to build web & streaming applications, APIs, etc. And it's not that hard to learn it if you already know JS.
