Is it a requirement that a beginner understand many math subjects?

I passed Algebra, many many moons ago (with tutoring), and understood what was going on. My tutor/father, explained it in a very easy way to wrap my brain around the material. Time passes, and you forget stuff. I'm sure I'll need to refresh my memory with some searches on the topic. It appears that in programming, it will get into higher math subjects that I've not been taught before. Is this a problem? Will I need to learn geometry, Calc, trig, etc?

It's not a requirement, but it's handy and let's you write more efficient algorithms and solve problems quickly.

Thanks. My mind is trying to talk me out of this new adventure. I'm doing my best to not let it. Searching and asking questions.
