Is it a question of LOGIC? of SEMANTICS? of BOTH or even NEITHER? I'd love to know what you think! :-) ~MJC(Michael)

I stumbled upon what I considered, at first, to be an error. But a friend of mine asked, 'Is it?' This is in Python, BTW, specifically Variables: the name-value pair, fruit = 'apple', while a= 'apple'[0] (if not familiar w/ Python, nearly all of you who may have seen [arrays] in JS and others where 0 is 1st, or position 1), it (to me, incorrectly) went on to state that while 'a' IS, in fact, what the machine sees as basically "letter #0"...both Ps are #s 1 & 2, etc, the Author stated that the first of the 2 Ps, BECAUSE it takes up slot/position [1], it is the 'first letter'. I am very sure that many you are doing what I did, saying, "No! Nooo! Wrong, Drool!" I still feel that way, but semantics can be funny. To me, letter 'a' is 'first', position [0] or not, because 'first' has little to do with the number 1 in this case, as in most cases (IMHO). No, it means that the one labeled first comes before all of the other ones...letters, in our case. Yes, I get what my friend is saying, but I disagree. LOL.

I'm not sure but I think this should be a post not on the q&a https://www.sololearn.com/discuss/1316935/?ref=app or at least be labeled off topic
